In 2008 I was selected as one of Design Indaba’s “emerging creatives” (for more information on this programe go HERE) and gained a bit of a leg up in the industry through this exposure. Later the same year Beverly from Interactive Africa approached me to design the “recruitment” poster for 2009’s creatives. I built the poster around a series of illustrations I produced the previous year for a solo exhibition at then-gallery/record store Canned Applause in Johannesburg – which consisted of 60 portraits documenting the most prominent faces on the Johannesburg/Pretoria creative scene.
